Product categories are labels assigned to products or product collections in Shopify. They are used to indicate the tax obligations and exemptions applicable to a purchase. Product categories are selected from Shopify’s Standard Product Taxonomy, which is a predefined and standardized list. As you can see this is a very important step because it is essential for tax purposes.
In this straightforward post, I will show you how to do it.
1. Open the product area of your Shopify store. There you can see all the categories of your products and find the ones that need to be updated.
2. Go to the left menu of your Shopify Store and select Products. You will see a list of all your products. Select the product you need to add or update the category.
3. Select the desired category. Follow this path to find and select “t-shirt” category.
-Apparel & Accessories
-Clothing
-Clothing Tops
-T-shirts
This t-shirt category is the simplest one. Selecting sports or baby t-shirts will affect your taxes and licenses, as these types of clothing require different permissions.
4. Hit the save button at the end of the page.
You are now ready. Repeat this procedure on all your products when you create or update them.
